The day, an annual event in our calendar, is a chance to remind our supporters how important they are in the Railway Children family.
Whether they were on the phones, writing postcards or sending emails, all our staff got stuck in to show how much we value our amazing supporters.
But it’s not just us who want to say thank you.
Railway Children support workers met 14-year-old Josie when she’d travelled to a railway station in London with thoughts of ending her life. Josie was having a difficult time at home and at school and was struggling with low self-esteem. Since attending counselling and working with her keyworker to address her problems, Josie is now enjoying a better relationship with her family and feeling far happier, healthier and more fulfilled.
In India, chaotic and busy streets and crowded railway networks can cause children to quickly become lost – and easy prey for predators.
For 13-year-old Anirudh, lost and alone at Ghaziabad station and with developmental delays and limited communication, the danger was particularly great. Thankfully, Railway Children staff got to him before anyone else could. And after months of searching, were able to reunite him with his family.
Because of you, children right across the UK, India and Tanzania have safe, loving homes to live in. They have access to education and healthcare. And they have targeted one-to-one support for as long as they need it.
So from all of us who work at Railway Children and all the children whose lives you’ve changed, to all of you who make it possible each and every day...
