Lion star Dev Patel shows his support during coronavirus crisis

Four years since we were chosen as a charity partner for the film Lion, the movie’s main star Dev Patel has recorded a special message for us to share in these difficult times. 

We’re so grateful to him for taking the time to do this in the middle of the coronavirus crisis and his help means a lot to us and the children we support.

Lion tells the true story of five-year-old Saroo Brierley, who gets lost on a train which takes him thousands of miles across India, away from his home and family. If you haven’t yet seen the film, it is a powerful reflection of our work at India’s stations and a great addition to your lockdown watch list.

Saroo’s story is not unique – there are over 11 million children living on the streets of India. As the impact of the current pandemic hits India, these desperate children need our help more than ever.

Our teams in India, and those in East Africa and the UK, are adapting their approaches, refining their methods and working harder than ever to reach the children that need us now more than ever.
