Looking After Your Mental Health

Taking care of your mental health is just as important as looking after your physical health. Life can feel overwhelming, whether it’s school, relationships, work or everything piling up.

But there are tools you can use and support available to help you navigate tough times.

1. Know the signs: it’s important to recognise when you’re struggling. Have you been feeling sad, anxious, overwhelmed or avoiding things you usually enjoy? If so, it might be time to ask for help.

2. Talk to someone: share how you’re feeling with a friend, teacher, parent or helpline.

3. Find healthy outlets: explore what helps you feel calmer or more positive. Try things like drawing, journaling, listening to music or going for a walk in nature.

4. Take small steps: break down problems into smaller, more manageable steps. This will help you celebrate the little wins.

5. Focus on basics: sleep well, eat nourishing food, drink water and move your body.

6. Stay connected: spending time with people who lift you up can make a huge difference to your mental wellbeing.
