What we offer

The benefits of working at Railway Children are many and varied.
The most obvious is that, through your role, you’ll create real, lasting change for some of the world’s most vulnerable children.

You’ll also be part of a friendly, thriving and values-led charity with an organisational culture we’re proud of at an exciting time as we develop our strategy to 2030.

Working for Railway Children also brings many personal benefits...

Home, hybrid and flexible working

  • Our full-time colleagues work a 37.5-hour working week, with opportunities for part-time working for some roles.
  • Home or hybrid working contracts as standard, and flexible working options possible for some roles.

Holiday and leave allowance

  • 25 days starting holiday entitlement increasing to a maximum of 30 days with service, plus bank holidays – pro rata for part-time colleagues. Two additional days a year are awarded to everyone – one at Christmas and one for your birthday.
  • We understand that balancing work and life can be tricky and we strive to be as flexible as possible in granting other special leave when needed.

Learning and Development

We know the development of our people is key to our success, which is why Develop and Progress is one of the pillars in our new People Strategy. Many of our team have worked with us for many years and have been promoted while with us.

We encourage everyone to continue their personal development while working with us and provide a range of opportunities to do this, including formal external management qualifications and role specific in-house training.

We also run a Lunch and Learn programme in which colleagues and speakers share information about a relevant topic or key area of our work.
