Sponsorship of Tour de Yorkshire

Railway Children has been running fundraising challenges for over ten years and has built up a reputation for running well-organised and, above all, safe events. In 2014, Railway Children developed a new event which enabled participants to follow the Tour de France's gruelling 120-mile Grand Depart in Yorkshire.

On Sunday 13 July, 160 cycling enthusiasts followed in the tracks of their cycling heroes, pushing themselves to their physical and mental limits.

Keolis were pleased to be the headline sponsor of this new event. It offered them an excellent opportunity to position their brand in front of some of their peers and the UK’s best known companies, whilst helping some of the world’s most vulnerable children. The event was publicised extensively throughout the rail industry and sponsorship benefits also included:

Places in the event

Promotion in all publicity including website, printed and digital material, press releases, etc.

Logo on event clothing

Branding on support vehicles

Banners at the event start and finish

Tour De Yorkshire Winner

Amateur cyclists from companies including Siemens, Linbrooke, Interfleet, ATOS, Network Rail, First Group, London Midland and East Coast were all given a unique opportunity to ride like a pro and raise money for charity at the same time.

Chief Executive Officer at Keolis UK Alistair Gordon said:

What a wonderfully well organised day - Keolis are proud to be involved with it. The facilities, marshalling and feed stations were all first class and everyone I rode with said it was the best sportive they had done.

With professional level event organisation, including medical teams, mechanical support, rolling road security and of course massages, riders were 100% immersed in the world of cycling.

Trophies were awarded to Chris Rason, who was the challenge's top individual fundraiser raising over £1,100, and to Xoserve, which was the top fundraising team raising over £3,700.

The event raised over £30,000 and thanks to event sponsor Keolis, 100 per cent of this went directly to help fund outreach projects for street children in India, East Africa and the UK.
